Jocelyn Gourvennec

Jocelyn Gourvennec is a French-born professional football manager who is currently the manager of Ligue 1 side Lille. 

He is a former mid-fielder. Jocelyn was born in Brest but grew up in Lorient, where his parents worked.

The rise and fall of Jocelyn 

After having played for several clubs like Lorient, Rennes, Marseille, Nantes, Bastia, Angers, and Clermont, Jocelyn began his managerial career at the age of 34 with a French Football club, in 2008 where he spent two years with the club before taking over the Guingamp. 

He led the team to win Coupe de France with a 1-0 victory over Rennes. 

Jocelyn took managerial post at French Ligue side 1 Bordeaux in May 2016. 

He returned to former club Guingamp but was unable to provide a satisfactory result. With the team relegation to Ligue 2, he decided to part ways with Guingamp on mutual consent. 

He remained out of football for two years. He was signed by Lille on the 5th of July, 2021. Jocelyn experienced his first success winning Trophee des champions with the club after the 1-0 victory over PSG.

He is a married man

Jocelyn is a happily married man. He is married to his wife, with whom he shares three children. 

He met his wife more than two decades back on the Cote d'Azur, where she was working as a book-seller. 

He was waiting on the stand-by for Domenech's selection, but unfortunately, he was not selected. 

The good part was he met his future wife in Nice. From their union, they are blessed with three beautiful children. 

The eldest one holds a baccalaureate degree, the second and third are in college and elementary school, respectively. 

Jocelyn is a family-oriented man. When he was sacked from Bordeaux, he gave his full time to his family. They spent quality time together skiing, going out for movies, summer vacations, etc.

He respects everyone's opinion but follows his path

Criticism is not a new thing for Jocelyn, as he has been through those kinds of comments since the age of eight. 

He would not have been in the position he is today if he had listened to the criticisms. 

Upon his arrival at Lille, he was criticized, but he did not read anything and focused on his path to success. 

He keeps in mind not to get affected by negative comments. He is informed about it, but he knows how to deal with it. 

He believes everyone has the right to get more than one chance even after experiencing failures. He said he respects everyone's opinion but follows his path.

His parent were teachers

Both of his parents were teachers in high school. His father was a French teacher, while his mother was a German teacher. 

They taught in the same high school. It was his parents from whom he got motivated. 

He saw their dedication in their profession with their transmission sides, methods, and practices of teaching. Those experiences were a vocation for him to become a trainer.
