Jill Popovich

Jill Popovich is famous as the daughter of one of the most celebrated NBA head coaches who has the record of most wins in NBA history. 

She is the daughter of a head coach and president of the San Antonio Spurs, Gregg Popovich.  

Gregg is the longest-tenured coach of the Spurs and has led the Spurs to win five times the NBA championship title. He is a three times NBA coach of the year and four times NBA all-star.

Her parents were together until her mother died in 2018

Her parents Greg and Erin Popovich were examples of a successful, happy marriage.

Going back to their love story, the couple first met through Erin's friend Betsy, daughter of Greg's dean, when Greg was a student at the Air Force Academy in the late 1960s. 

Eventually, the couple began dating before getting hitched in 1976 in El Paso, Texas. 

Since then, they were inseparable until the death of Erin on the 10th of April 2018 after battling through a long–term illness. She was 67 at the time of her death.

Her mother long suffered from ILD, an interstitial disease that causes stiffness in the lungs, making it difficult to breathe. 

Throughout her battle with the disease, she did not utter a word of complaint. She was more concerned about other people dealing with the same disease. 

Whenever she saw another person suffering from ILD, she would ask Jill to go to them to find if they needed any help. 

She wanted Jill to have their phone numbers because she wanted to help them. 

Honoring her mother's vision, Jill, with the help of her father Gregg and the support of chest foundation, started Erin Popovich Endowment with the vision to provide help to those suffering from ILD. 

They are hoping to make it easier for the families and patients dealing with the disease.
