Carrie, in an interview, has revealed that she first met her then-boyfriend Jesse through a dating site known as eHarmony. 

Before meeting Jesse, she had been dating younger guys, and she thought that she needs to change a little bit.

And on September 2012, it was announced that the engagement was called off.

Maybe they both have thought that it would be better to break-up the relationship now then get married and get a divorce.
