During an interview with The Meredith Vieira Show, Washington shared that if you are accused of something, you don't go to the Golden Globe and use the same word you have been accused of using, which is a huge mistake. 

He apologized, and he will continue to apologize to all the friends and supporters in the gay community for the misstep he cannot change that narrative, but what he can do is upset the absolutes about who he is as a human being. 

He added that there is no way he could do something horrible to another human being then or now. 

RETIREMENT 

Washington announced his retirement to the world in February 2023, tweeting, 

"It is with a heavy heart and a sense of relief that I am announcing my early retirement from the entertainment industry today."
