Her daughter had an estranged relationship with her father
After she gave birth to Corrie, Bird denied being her biological father, but the DNA confirmed that she was his biological child.
However, he remained estranged from his daughter for years.
Condra, while appearing on Oprah Winfrey's show, said how she had to make excuses to her daughter while she was little.
According to her, she was bound to make excuses to protect herself from the hurt caused by her father but couldn’t.
She could protect her from everything else but not that, she said. Corrie, then 15 years old, had even complained about her father not reaching out to her.
When asked why it was still hard to move on after two decades without him, she said she had moved on but still hoped to be a part of her father’s life.
She also recalled going to see the Pacers game.
She said when she went to her stepmom and their kids, her father gave an awkward smile seeing her holding their kids.
But it was her stepmom who helped her to have a father-daughter moment by providing two tickets to see a game.
It was at that time he embraced her and seemed interested in her.
Similarly, Bird also regretted getting married at the early age of nineteen.
In an interview, he said that when he was a kid, he used to think people getting divorced were the devil, and then he did get married and did it himself right away.
Getting married was the worst mistake he ever made and everything that ever happened to him.
Though he has learned from it, it scarred him for life. That and being broke are the two things that influenced him the most, he said.
Bird credited Condra for raising their daughter in the best way possible
Bird, after The Baltimore Sun reported Condra’s article of John Gearan from the Worcester Telegram, wrote an autobiography where he stated that he have had too much to do with her (Corrie’s) life because of his differences with Condra.
He thinks of Corrie all the time, but he can’t do anything because he can’t go back and relive five or six years of her life, he wrote.
He praised her, calling her a fine and beautiful lady and saying that she was athletic and good at everything she did.
Besides that, he also praised Condra for raising their daughter in the best way possible despite their differences.
He assured her that he will be there for Corrie anytime she needed him.
Remarried
Following her divorce from Bird, she remarried. However, there is not much information about her current husband.
Condra lives a very private life out of the spotlight with her current husband.
