Serena is retiring from the tennis world

Serena, the tennis legend, announced her retirement from her stunning tennis career, but Serena says she has never liked the retirement word and does not think it is modern.

During an interview with Vogue, Serena explained why she is saying goodbye to tennis.

She explained she never wanted to choose between tennis and family and would never have to choose between them if he was a guy because the part of the family expansion job would be handled by his wife while he would be doing his part, playing and winning trophies.

She clarified by saying she loved being a woman and being pregnant with her daughter Olympia and was dedicated to her career while still being two months pregnant when she won the Australian Open in 2017

But having turned 41, she felt something got to give.

She confessed to not liking the word retirement and would like to describe it as an evolution and said she is evolving from tennis to other important things in her life.

Beginning with Serena Ventures, a venture capital firm that she slowly started a few years ago.

Also, she wants to grow her family she started five years back with the birth of her daughter Olympia who, according to her, keeps asking for a baby sister most of the time and even in her prayers.

She revealed she and her husband are trying for a baby and do not want to be pregnant again as an athlete.

Throughout the years, she has been reluctant to admit to herself and anyone else that she has to move on from her tennis career.

The topic has been hardly brought up or discussed with her husband, Alexis, as well as her parents, apart from her therapist, because it’s like it’s fake until she said it loud, she said.

The decision has been the hardest part she could have ever imagined because tennis has been a part of her life and given her so much, and she does not want it to be over, but at the same, she has also prepared herself for what’s next.

Williams also recounted the happiest times in her life, which were waiting in the hallway in Melbourne and walking out into Rod Laver Arena with her headphones on and trying to stay focused to drown out the noise but still feeling the energy of the crowds, night matches in Arthur Ashe Stadium and hitting an ace on set point.

Serena says she didn’t retire but evolved

The Greatest of all time, Serena retired from her stunning career in September 2022, just before her 41st birthday.

She bid an emotional goodbye after losing to Ajla Tomljanovic in the third round of the 2022 US Open.

During an interview with Norah O’Donnell of CBS evening news, she said she didn’t retire but evolved.

She says she is doing the same things as the CEOs of companies are doing, leaving or retiring to go to the other company.

They are still working, so she doesn’t feel like she has retired or laying around but enjoying the fruits of her labor.

She is sort of doing more things, and in business and so many things, so it’s like an evolution, she added.

Her tennis career was incredibly physical and mental, and that physical and mental of tennis has mentally prepared her and helped her in everything she is doing in business.

As a low-key investor, she has been investing in the business for over a decade and eventually started funding.

They are now investing in women and women of color and assure that they have diversities in a lot of companies they invest in.

Besides that, she also runs a fashion company and recently launched a new lifestyle brand, “Will Perform.”

While talking about her life-long battle with migraines, Serena said that she played tennis through migraines.

According to her, migraines have affected her for a very long time. She recalled having a migraine as a teenager, not realizing that she was having a migraine.

She thought it was just a headache, but as she grew older, she realized that she was suffering from a migraine.

It wasn’t always easy to put pain in the back and sort of deal with it, she said. She feels like suffering in silence is something she has done for so long.

Despite the pain, they still have to perform at Wimbledon and court because no one in the crowds and no one that’s watching TV understands anything.

They only understand that she is a player, she is going to play, and she has to win, so it’s like you have to continue to play, continue to perform no matter what.

There were many times she played tennis while suffering from migraine, but not every time, she said.
