Isabella Dawson

Isabella Dawson is the daughter of an American actress Rosario Dawson. Isabella is an adopted daughter of Rosario. 

The Dawson family knew her biological mom, and when they found out she was in foster care, the Dawson family looked for her and adopted her.

Her real name was revealed after seven years

Isabella was 11 years old when she moved in with her mother, Rosario, in 2013 before the adoption was finalized in 2014. 

Rosario didn't officially confirm her real name until 2021. Isabella used to go by the name Lola before her real name was revealed. 

During the Parents' We Are Family podcast when asked about the age of Lola, she replied, saying Lola was not her actual name. 

She continued to say that when she adopted her, she didn't put her name out. 

She doesn't know where the name came from, but it was like somebody kept her name, and everyone just kept running after it. 

At the time, she didn't feel the urge to correct it because she felt she didn't need to, but when her daughter grew older, Isabella didn't like everyone calling her Lola, so she decided to finally reveal her name. 

Isabella was named after her grandmother Isabel. 

Why did her mom choose to adopt an older child?

While appearing on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Rosario revealed the real reason behind adopting an older child. 

According to her, she was just five years old when she found out that her dad was not her biological father, and from that point, her perception of adoption changed. 

He married her mom when she was 18 with a one-year-old and raised her as his own. 

She said she could have been like other kids in the neighborhood who were from single-parent homes, but her father married her mom when she was a baby. 

Then five-year-old Dawson had a question in her mind what if her father hadn't married her mom? Would someone have wanted to marry her mom? 

She recalled telling her parents that she would adopt older kids because it's easy to adopt a cute little baby, but what about the kids of her age and older who also need parents?

It's not known if she has siblings born to her biological parents. But she is the only child Rosario has adopted.

She doesn't have cell phones

While talking to Access back in December 2018, Rosario revealed that Isabella does not have a cell phone. 

She thinks it's critical and that she also grew up without having one. 

She added that there is a lot of seeing stuff around brain development and how important it is that we learn three-dimensionally. 

She also said she talked about it with Isabella giving examples of other kids who are developing online according to the likes and dislikes they get. 

The relationship status of her mom

Rosario Dawson was in a relationship with United States Senator Cory Booker before they called it quits in February 2022. 

The couple first met at the political fundraiser program for a mutual friend in the summer of 2018. 

In an interview with The Washington Post in 2019, Booker said they talked for hours and hours the night they met. 

He confessed to not having an idea of how to get Dawson's number and recalled stupidly saying how he would get in touch with her, after which Dawson asked if he wanted her number. 

Rosario also later said she found Booker to be charming though their relationship was a slow burn. In March 2019, Dawson confirmed her relationship with Booker.

It seems Dawson has moved on following her break-up with Booker. 

She is currently linked to poet Nnamdi Okafor after she shared the short clip with the poet in August. 

In the video, Okafor was saying, "I Love You," to which Dawson responded, "I Love You too." 

On August 13, she wished him on his birthday, sharing a brief video of themselves with a music Sonny & Cher's "I got you, babe."
