Pat Rafter has made quite a name for himself as a tennis player. 

His achievements are very motivational and notable. He started his career as a pro tennis player in 1991

He took his retirement from his very successful career in 2002

However, even after announcing his retirement, he made a comeback in 2004 and played until 2014

Though he started his career in 1991, he was interested in tennis at the young age of five and started training since then.

When Pat was asked his motivation to be a tennis player, he explained how affording his own house was his motivation when he was 16 to 17.

But as time passed, his greatest motivation was to win the Grand Slam, and he succeeded in having all of that and more.

Tony Roche used to be Pat’s mentor, and they had a father-son bond after working for so many years that Pat dedicated his 1991 championship win to Tony to honor him and show how grateful he was.   

Shoulder injury:

Due to the shoulder injury he got in 1999, he had to miss the Davis cup finals and step back from many other major games. 

He had to go through surgery, and after the recovery period, he came back and won against many great players, but due to the problems he faced after his shoulder injury, he had to retire at 28.

After retirement:

Even after retirement, Pat didn’t fade out of the spotlight. 

He started to do advertisements, became the brand ambassador of many products, worked and spoke for many charities. 

Even to this day, he has played many charity games and says he will continue that.

Australia’s most loved sportsman:

Pat is considered one of Australia’s most loved sportsmen as he has represented Australia on the world stage and won major titles for the country. 

He won the US Open in 1997. He was considered as the world’s no. 1 tennis player in 1999

He was known for his unique style of playing of attacking the net and started to win multiple games and tournaments.  

He has also been named Australian of the year

The Queensland tennis center was named Pat Rafter Arena in his honor. He has also coached for Australia’s Davis cup team.
