Ed's song Supermarket Flowers was not meant for her, but it was for her mom

Everyone thought Ed's track "Supermarket Flowers" from his album Divide was meant for his mom, but it was not. 

During an interview with Zane Lowe, the singer cleared the air by saying that the song was actually about his grandmother. 

According to him, at the time he was making the record, his grandmother was very ill and passed away at the end of making the record, so they wrote the song as a tribute. 

He also confessed to not thinking of including it on his album, but it was his grandfather who, at the funeral, turned to him and was like, he has to put it out, that has to be on the record. 

He also stated that the song was written from his mom's perspective. 

She was one of the nicest women you would ever meet, and she was my mom's mom, Sheeran said of his grandmother.

The reason her son Ed ditched smartphones

Ed first announced he was taking a break from his phones and all of the social media back in December 2015, stating that he found himself seeing the world through screens rather than his eyes and was taking an opportunity of him not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything he missed. 

Since then, to date, he has not used his phone. While appearing on the Ellen show, he stated he got rid of his phone as a part of the New Year's Resolution.

At the time, he said he bought Ipad where he worked off email.

Ed Sheeran recently appeared on The Collector's podcast, where he talked about his decision to get rid of his phone in 2015. 

He said he got overwhelmed and sad with the phone and spent his whole time just being in a low place. He added that getting rid of the phone was like a veil just unlifted. 

The thing about the phone that stressed him a lot was the constant pressure of responding to messages that were taking a toll on his mental health. 

Now he says he only has emails and responds to 10 emails at a time every few days. 

Aside from mental health and feeling better about everything, the moment he has with the person he loves is uninterrupted, he further added.
