Imanol Alguacil

Imanol Alguacil is a Spanish-born professional football manager and a retired player who is the current head coach of Real Sociedad.

As a former right back, he played for Real Sociedad, Villarreal, Jaen, Cartagena, Burgos before retiring in 2003 at the age of 32.

Lost his mom at his teen 

Imanol was born and raised in a small village in Orio to his lorry driver father and a housewife mother. Imanol lost his mother when he was quite young. 

He was just thirteen when his mother succumbed to death. In 1990, his father got a call where he was informed that Inamol was making his debut with Real Sociedad.

He is married and has a beautiful family

Imanol is happily married to his wife. With his wife, he shares two beautiful children. Imanol often mentions his spouse and kids though they live a very private life away from the spotlight. 

Last time, after the Real Sociedad, qualified for Europe, he mentioned his wife and children where he said that his spouse, two kids, and nephews go to bed all in tears when they lose. 

He was once again in tears when his team lifted the victory cup in the final. He dedicated the cup to the doctors, nurses, and people fighting for their lives and mentioned his uncle, who recently lost his life to Coronavirus. 

Because of his busy schedules, he hardly gets time to spend quality time with his family. 

Celebrated the long-awaited victory with a song

A proud and historic moment for Real Sociedad and Jose was when the club lifted the Copa del Rey on the 3rd of April, 2021, the victory the club waited for since 1987. 

The club beat the rival Athletic Bilbao 1-0 in the final. Overwhelmed by the victory, Imanol celebrated in his style. 

He wore a Sociedad shirt and, with a scarf in his hand, sang a song during the press conference. 

A die heart fan and a manager looking forward to making history for the club

Imanol has spent most of his career with Real Sociedad. He first started playing with the club at the age of 17. 

He took over the managerial post in 2014 with the Real Sociedad B. After his four-year spell with the club, he returned to the reserve in 2018 but the same year became the head coach following the dismissal of Asier Garitano after the poor results. 

He became the first team manager in 2018. Besides that, he is a die heart fan of Real Sociedad, which confuses him where to sit.
