Hennessy Carolina was born to parents Dominican and Trinidadian in 1995. She is only four years junior to her sister Cardi B. 

When her elder was ten years old, their parents got separated from each other. She has six-half siblings. After the separation, her father remarried, and it is the outcome of that.

She used to call her Bacardi. Bacardi is a company whose white rum is famous among the people who drink alcohol. 

So, when she was about to debut in music, she twisted her nickname given by her sister. She changed it from Bacardi to Cardi B. 

They both share a great bond. In functions, they try to get ready together and help each other as well to choose dresses.
