Helmut Huber

Helmut Huber is an Austrian-born producer and writer mainly recognized as a husband of an Emmy-Award-winning American actress, Susan Lucci. 

As a producer, he has produced television movies like “Blood On her Hands” and “Seduced and Betrayed.” Huber was diagnosed with AFib in 2010.

Destined to be together

The power couple Huber and Lucci were destined to be together. That is why Lucci, who was engaged to another guy, ended up marrying Huber. 

But how did their story begin? It was during the summer of 1965, Huber then-27-year old, was in his last year as the executive chef at Garden City Hotel before he became in charge of food and beverage operations of the hotel and Lucci, then-18-year old was in the first year of her job as a waitress in the same hotel. 

The beauty of Lucci hit him at the very moment he saw her, but the case was not the same for Lucci though she found him attractive but as an attractive older man. 

Luckily, her engagement party was held at Garden City Hotel, and Lucci’s parents invited him.

Huber soon assumed that the thing between Lucci and her then-fiance was never going to last and could not keep up to himself, so he shared it with Lucci’s mom.

At the party, Lucci ran into Huber in the hallway and found him more attractive than she ever knew.

They were at the sun porch at her parents’ home one night. She was feeling cold, and Huber felt that. When he took off his socks and put on Lucci, she felt he was somebody spectacular. 

Just after three months of dating, on the 13th of September, 1969, they vowed to be together forever. Huber proved to be the one for her. 

He shares two grown-up children with his spouse of 52 years

Huber and Lucci became parents for the first time in 1975, welcoming their daughter Liza in Long Island, New York. 

Two years later, they gave birth to their second child, son Andreas. Their daughter Liza is a former actress. 

She gave up acting to be by the side of her family. She is now an entrepreneur. In 2011, she founded Sage Spoonfuls, the healthy homemade baby food system brand. 

She shares four children with her technology executive husband, Alex Hesterberg. Out of her four kids, Royce, 14, Brendan, 12, Hayden,10, and Mason, 8, Brendan was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy in 2010. 

Huber and Lucci are the grandparents of her five grandkids. One of the five grandkids was born to their son Andreas with his spouse, Courtney.

His experience in skiing helped in saving his spouse’s life

Huber and his spouse were on a skiing trip in Tignes Le Lac in France. 

After they reached midway up in the mountain, she accidentally slipped and almost fell thousands of feet off a cliff. 

But like a hero, Huber saved her life. He schussed down below her as she was falling and managed to stop her from falling.
