Francisco Trincao

Francisco Trincao is a Portuguese-born professional footballer who is currently playing for Wolverhampton Wanderers. 

Francisco joined Wolves on loan from Barcelona. He can play in any position, both on the attack and the wing.

His football journey and achievements so far

Francisco’s football journey began with his hometown club Vianense that followed Porto, Braga, Palmeiras Braga before making his senior debut with Braga B in the Second Portuguese division in 2016 at the age of 16.

At the end of the season, he scored two goals and three assists for the club and debuted with the first team in 2018. 

He scored his first goal for the team in 2019, contributing the team to win 2019-20 Taca da Liga.

He was signed by Barcelona in January 2020. He scored thrice for Barcelona and contributed to the team in winning Copa del Rey in 2020-21. 

He has represented Portugal in different levels and has six Portugal caps to his name. 

He contributed to winning the UEFA European under-19 championship in 2018 and was named UEFA European under-19 championship top scorer.

Francisco is very close to his father, Goncalo Trincao, and has huge respect for him. 

He wore no. 17 when he was signed by Barcelona to honor his father. He is fond of the number because it is the birth date of his father. 

According to him, he was the European Under-19 champion with the number. Both of his parents have supported his football journey since the beginning and moved to Barcelona to be with their son. 

According to Francisco, he is not training alone, but along with him, his parents are also training, taking him to the training back and forth. 

His father drove him 100 kilometers back and forth several days a week from his hometown of Viana to Northern Portugal for his training at Porto.

His family includes his parents and his elder sister, whose name is Leonor. Leonor is two years older than him and is a fashion blogger. 

Besides that, there is one more member in the family, their pet dog Summer “Verano” in Spanish.

One of the qualities of Francisco is that he is very strong mentally. He looks forward to scoring more goals, more assists, and helping the team win the titles by playing as many games as possible. 

The technical director of Wolves, Scott Sellars, confessed Trincao being on their radar for quite a while, having said that he has a load of qualities. 

Having been signed from Braga to Barcelona was enough to prove his potentiality. He further added that Trincao has the qualities of drifting, great speed over two or three yards, great change of direction when moving the ball, and the qualities to score and create.
