Eric W. Wilkinson

Eric W. Wilkinson is famous as a celebrity father. 

He is the father of American Television personality, model, and businesswoman Kendra Wilkinson. 

Kendra first rose to prominence as one of the girlfriends of former founder and editor-in-chief of Playboy Magazine, Hugh Hefner, on the reality series Girls Next Door.

Wilkinson was born in St. Louis and was raised in Bryn, Mawr, Pennsylvania, and Ocean City, New Jersey. 

At the age of 15, he moved to San Diego. 

He graduated from the University of California, San Diego, with a degree in biotechnology. 

He founded several biotechnology companies before getting retired at the age of 48.

Married life and divorce

Wilkinson married Patti Wilkinson on the 5th of November, 1983. 

Patti was a native of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and had been a cheerleader for the Philadelphia Eagles. 

From their marriage union, they welcomed their daughter Kendra and a son Collin. 

However, their marriage could not last long as they got divorced on the 25th of March, 1994. 

Kendra was just eight years old at the time of their divorce.

Wilkinson remarried Kathi Wilkison but later amicably got divorced. 

Kathi, in an interview with Star Magazine back in 2014, stated that Kendra’s mother, Patti, was the one to create a rift between Wilkinson and his kids. 

Eric has suffered immeasurably from being separated from his children. 

Through the years, Patti would e-mail Eric and say that his kids hate him, and to her kids, she would say that their father abandoned him. 

She’s hurt those children so badly, she told the Magazine.

As of 2018, Wilkinson was with his fourth wife, Amy, as Kendra was seen saying to her brother Colin in one of the video clips of her reality show ‘Kendra On Top’ that their dad was coming from Singapore on her show’s opening night with his fourth wife. 

Kendra had a heart-to-heart conversation with her dad on his last night before his return to Singapore, where she expressed that she was truly happy to see him. 

During the conversation, he told Kendra that he has been married a couple of times and has lived all over the world, and what he wants out of life is to settle down and just have a comfortable life.

He was an absentee father and had been estranged from his daughter for years before they reconciled

Wilkinson was never present in the lives of his kids following his divorce from Patti. 

He had been estranged from his kids for years before he finally reconciled with Kendra in 2014. 

Patti was furious when she discovered that he and Kendra had reconciled. 

It was after the cheating scandal of Kendra’s then-husband, Hank Baskett, made a headline in 2014. 

He was allegedly cheating on her with a transgender model. 

Kendra, in an interview with People, said that she would never have had the courage to go with her dad if it hadn’t been for that mess with Hank. 

She hadn’t seen him in two decades, but she had no fear anymore, she said at the time. 

Back in 2018, in one of the video clips, Colin was seen saying that he had no desire to see his dad when Kendra told him that their dad was coming to her show’s opening with their stepmom, explaining that he was never around in their lives growing up. 

He doesn’t care if he never saw it in his life. 

He also said later that he had never been a father to him so that she couldn’t be his stepmom.

Kendra, in her depression battle, thought she was going to die

Kendra opened up about her depression battle in an interview with People. 

She shared that it’s important to seek help, which she never tried seeking, thinking she was strong enough and didn’t need therapy. 

She further went on to say that she was struggling with anxiety and depression for so long but was trying to fight and cure on her own and hit rock bottom by trying to do so. 

Her chest was tight, and she was in a state of panic. 

She didn’t know what was going on in her head and her body and the reason she was crying. 

She had hit the rock bottom. She was hitting the end of her life, and she went into psychosis. 

She didn’t feel she was strong enough to live anymore, she told the magazine.

Kendra finally sought help, bursting into tears and asking her then-husband to take her to the hospital. 

“To accept medication was the hardest thing to do,” she said. 

She was prescribed the antipsychotic medication Abilify and started outpatient therapy three times a week at UCLA. 

She also regretted her time in the Playboy mansion, saying that she struggled with depression before and at the mansion. 

Her experience at the mansion ate at her self-esteem, after which she started hating herself for getting into the mansion, having sex with Hugh Hefner at that age, getting big boobs, for being a sex symbol, etc.
