Emma Raducanu

Emma Raducanu is a British professional tennis player. In Toronto, Canada, she was born to her parents, Renee and Ian Raducanu. 

Her mother, Renee, is Chinese, while her father is Romanian. She was two when they moved to the UK. 

Emma became the first singles qualifier at the US Open to win the Grand Slam title after having made Wimbledon round-of-16 as a wildcard and then paving her way to the final. 

She was honored with BBC Sports Personality of the year on the 19th of December, 2021.

Her parents helped her stay grounded

Emma credits her mother and father for their immense support and keeping her grounded and focused. 

From the very beginning, she was taught not to get too high with the wins or too low with the loses.

Emma confessed to using public transport even these days despite having earned name and fame because she feels she is the same person and does everything she has always been doing and does not feel she needs to change anything.

Emma, in an interview, confessed to not setting too many ambitious goals after the Grand Slam victory but has a target to win Wimbledon if she had to pick one. 

She added that she was not expecting to win the Grand Slam in 2021 but winning one of the Grand Slams was one of her goals. 

Emma has amassed many fans, especially from China, because of her mother, who is from Shenyang, China and is looking forward to playing in China.

She is the only child

She is the only child of her parents. She was raised in Bromley. While growing up, her mother and father made sure she excelled in both her studies and extra-curriculum activities. 

From her Chinese mother, she possessed self-confidence and self-belief. 

Her mother was a bit traditional, so she introduced her to ballet and tap lessons while her Romanian father, who is all about being different, introduced her to golf, tennis and other sports like motorsports, Karting, Dirt biking.

Motorsport is her second passion, and getting a motor license is her next ambition

Emma was five when she started playing Tennis at the Bromley Tennis Centre and soon became her hobby which later got intense that left her to give up other sports. 

But even today, she is passionate about motorsports, and her next ambition is to get a motorbike license.
