Elijah Williams

Elijah Williams is the son of the American professional basketball coach and former player, Monty Williams. 

Monty Williams, the head coach of Phoenix Suns

Monty is currently the Phoenix Suns head coach of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He started his career in NBA as a coaching staff intern for the San Antonio Spurs. 

He also worked for different NBA teams such as New Orleans Hornets, Oklahoma City Thunders, and Port and Trail Blazers. 

Apart from NBA teams, he has coached for the National Basketball Team of the United States and also Summer Olympics in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, in 2016.

Married to a partner who fits perfectly

Monty was married to Ingrid Williams in 1995. Their first meeting was happened in 1989 at a freshman mixer at Notre Dame during their college days. 

He was attracted to her uniqueness of drinking water instead of beer at a party, fearless nature, and strong faith. 

At first, he was trying to set her with his friend but instead he fell for her. When he was only 18 years, he knew clearly that he had found a partner who perfectly fits him and from whom he can develop himself. 

Their friendship started when he went to talk to her after seeing her frequently on his campus. Further, her studious nature helped to bring them closer. 

She often helped him in his study which enabled him to increase his grades and continue his study. They started dating and there were also time when they didn’t have any money for dating. 

But they enjoyed their time spending at dorm, eating pizza from the basement, snack bar, corn nuts, and soda from vending machines, and simply sitting and talking.

Tragic accident that separated parents

February 10, 2016, was a dreadful day for the Williams family. 

When his mother and his three sisters were returning home, then a 52 years old woman, Susannah Donaldson hit her car brutally while his mother was driving. 

That woman and her dog died at the spot whereas, his sisters and mother were taken to the hospitals. 

Unfortunately, that tragic accident separated his parents as it killed his mother because of serious injuries. Luckily, nothing serious happened to his sisters, and they survived.

Husband heartfelt speech in funeral

After Ingrid’s death, her husband gave a heartfelt speech at her funeral. 

In the seven-plus minute speech, he recalls the ups and down days of his life from getting perfect loving wife like her, his struggling days when doctors warns him that he will die if he plays basketball, and the death of his beloved wife. 

Along with reading the bible quote, he mentioned that despite all the hurtful moments that are hard to endure, 

God always loves him and gives him strength enough to overcome every painful moment and do the same this time. 

Further, he expressed his gratitude towards everyone present there, his family and friend, to remain and pray for his family. At last, he concluded the message to have a heart of forgiveness to everyone.

Marriage after wife's death 

After losing his beloved wife, he again took wedding vows with Lisa Keeth at the end of 2016. She is currently working as a senior manager of Partnership Activation for NBA Antonio Spurs. 

She is a graduate of Bachelor of Business Administration with s specialization in marketing. 

She is interested in sports and used to be a member of Angelo State Women’s Volleyball team and has won American Marketing Association Holland’s Sportswomen of the year 2002. 

Blessed with four siblings

He is blessed with four siblings. He has three elder sisters, Lael Williams, Faith, and Janna Williams, and one younger brother, Micah Williams. 

His elder sisters have completed high school, and they are still in middle school. They share a strong bond and are spotted together on different occasions and from watching games to fun vacations. 

In the absence of his mother, his elder sister takes care of them and makes sure that all are together.
