His parents got divorced after nearly a decade of their marriage

It's not known how his parents met, but they got married in 1999 and were together for nearly a decade. 

They filed for divorce in 2008, citing irreconcilable differences, but there was a rumor that his father was involved with Canadian model Michelle Tomlinson. 

His mother, Kimberly Fey, is currently working as a realtor sales associate at Galvis Realty Group.

He is the step-son of actress Jenny McCarthy

Elijah became the stepson of actress Jenny McCarthy after his father married her in 2014.

The couple first crossed paths on Andy Cohen's show "Watch What Happens Live" in 2012, but it was just a casual encounter. 

Donnie, in his Instagram post, later shared that Andy, at the time, had implored him to ask Jenny out, but he didn't. 

The following year, they met again on Jenny's VH1 talk show, "The Jenny McCarthy Show."

After filming the segment, Donnie asked Jennie out, and since Jenny at the time was not dating anyone, she gave him her number.

He recalled Elijah saying to him on one of the summer tours that he wanted to sing step by step. 

He said he wanted to sing Step 5 on the stage, and when he asked the reason, he replied that Jonathan was his favorite new kid. He then started singing Step 5. 

When Donnie asked him to practice in the dressing room, he said he didn't need to practice. He just wanted to go out on stage and sing.

Elijah also has a younger brother, Evan, whom his father adopted after marrying Jenny.

Donnie was asked whom his sons go to for advice between him and his wife Jenny while appearing on the Rachel Ray Show, to which he replied by saying he connects with Evan when things with Elijah don't quite connect, and the same with Elijah and Jenny. 

Elijah talks to Jenny about anything that isn't sports, and Evan talks to him about a bully in school and how to deal with it, he said.

"It has just been a perfect relationship. And we are parenting both kids", he continued.
