Edward Tinsley Chase was a writer and is the late father of popular American comedian, writer, and actor Chevy Chase. 

Edward Tinsley was also known as Ned. He was born in New York, the United States, to his parents, Edward Leigh Chase and Mabel Penrose.

Chevy was lifetime banned from SNL:

Chase is currently banned from performing on SNL because of his act when he hosted in 1997. 

At that time, he slapped a cast member named Cheri Oteri, becoming physical, and said it was a joke.
