Donald Joe Heche is the late father of an American actress and director Anne Heche. He was a choir director in a Baptist Church.
He was living a secret homosexual life.
Heche was married to his high school sweetheart, Nancy Heche. They were in marital bliss until his demise in 1983.
Both of them were raised in a Methodist church and later became involved in a fundamentalist Christian church and moved to an Amish Community, where the family remained during the late 1960s and early 70s.

She only knew that her husband was unable to fulfill her lust desire. She admitted turning to other men by having a secret affair with them to fill that void. After the demise of her husband, she realized she was living in the dark.
The family knew he was living a secret life after he was diagnosed with AIDS in 1983. According to Anne, her father never admitted to being gay. He was 45 when AIDS took his life.

Heche fathered five children, including actress Anne. His daughter Cynthia died just months after she was born.
She died of infancy heart defect. His son Nathan died just three months after his demise following the car crash that took place after he fell asleep at the wheel.
But Anne believes her brother must have committed suicide. After losing two family members, Nancy moved the family to Chicago.
His other daughter Susan Bergman who published her memoir about her childhood in 1994, lost her life to cancer at the age of 48.

Anne's life has been an open book. She has been open about her life and the sexual abuse she endured from her father.
In her 2001 memoir, "Call Me Crazy," Anne revealed that her father was a closeted homosexual who sexually molested her until the age of 13 and gave her genital herpes.
She expressed her father repeatedly raped her, fondled her and had sex with her.
When asked why a gay man would rape a girl, Anne said her father was a sexual deviant who saw everybody as a sexual being.
Her father being closeted ruined her and her family's happiness and her childhood, but that taught her to speak the truth, she added.
Anne also alleged that her mom refused to take the hospital after she confronted her about the abuse and genital herpes.
She insisted on believing it was a diaper rash.
Anne died of severe brain injury caused by a car crash.
Anne had not regained consciousness since the day the car she was in crashed into a two-story house in the Mar Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles on the 5th of August,2022.
The damage was so severe that it required 59 firefighters and more than an hour to extinguish the fire.
She ultimately fell into a coma after she suffered a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation.
As per Anne's family, Anne was not expected to survive.
They had confirmed via a representative that she had suffered a severe anoxic brain injury and was now kept on life support to determine whether her organs were viable for donation or not. Donating her organs had long been her choice, the family had said.
The family also expressed their gratitude to everyone for their kind wishes and prayers for the speedy recovery of Anne and also to the dedicated staff and nurses that took care of Anne at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills hospital.
Anne was pronounced dead on the 12th of August.
The news was confirmed via a family representative to TMZ, stating that they have lost a bright light, a kind, joyful soul, a loving mother, and a loyal friend and that she will be deeply missed.
