He also stated that no new charges could be refiled based on the evidence which was disallowed. 

He came to the limelight again in 2006, and he was convicted this time around.

 He was indicted this time around for bribery and mail fraud, and he was indicted with Richard M. Scrushy. Richard was the founder and former CEO of HealthSouth.

 He was accused that he traded government favors for campaign donations as he was the lieutenant governor from the year 1995 to the year 1999.

 Not only has this time around but also when he was the governor around 1999 to 2003. 

He was accused that he arranged 500,000 dollars in donations to Siegelman's 1999 campaign for a lottery fun for universal education, and he did so in exchange for a seat on a state hospital regulatory board.
