Dominik Szoboszlai is a Hungarian professional footballer who plays for RB Leipzig and the Hungary national team as a midfielder.

He was born in Szekesfehervar, an Industrial city in Hungary. Dominik captained Hungary U-17 and U-19 teams in the 2017 UEFA European Under-17 Championship and 2019 UEFA European Under-19 Championship. Before Leipzig, he played for Red Bull Salzburg and Liefering.

His father was together with him in his football journey

Dominik was born to his father, Zsolt, who played football in the top tier of Hungarian football. He was given the football for the first time by his father.

Since then, he fell in love with football, and all he cared about was football. Dominik grew up watching his father play until 2007 when his father was released from Videoton

After the release, his father co-founded his academy Fonix Gold where Dominik was able to train every day.

His father became his first coach and played under him until he joined the Red Bull Academy. For Dominik, his father is an idol for him.

In an interview, he recalled his childhood days where he confessed to having spent his days mostly in the pitch while his other friends were enjoying going to the cinema and all.

His football journey was possible because of his father, who was together in his path and spent uncountable hours practicing and advising. His father was and is still the influential factor in his decision-making.

His football talent was shaped by Marco Rose

Dominik credits Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Rose for shaping his football talent. When Dominik was at FC Liefering , Marco was his first team coach.

At the age of 16, he thought what he was doing was enough and was not required to do more. It was Marco who made him realize that what he was doing at Liefering was not enough in terms of goals and assists.

Initially, he thought his coach did not like him at all and did not want him to play, but then he realized Marco was the coach he needed to change his mindset.

He instilled in him that there is always a place to do more and improve as long as you work hard to get opportunities and become a regular starter.

As a coach, he saw Dominik could do much better. According to Dominik, he could not have excelled if his then-coach Marco had not changed his mindset at the right time, and he is grateful to Marco.

His dreams as a footballer

To win the champions league is one of his biggest dreams. From a very young age, he dreamt of having a good football career and winning as many trophies as possible.

According to him, he wants to make the people happy playing and scoring for the national team and also wants to make his father and his family proud lifting the champions league trophy.

The level of hard work and effort he is putting in waking up early morning every single day is to fulfill his dream. He believes hard work is the way to achieve his dream.

The hardest time of his life

The hardest time of his life was eight months period that sidelined him from the game following his adductor injury.

More than that, the hardest part was not being able tomeet the goals which he had set. Because of the injury, he could not play any of the matches for Leipzig in the 2020-21 season
