Parents and siblings

Dayot was born to his parents who are from the island of Jeta in Guinea-Bissau. His father was a tiler and his Senegalese mother was a hairdresser. 

Dayot is the firstborn child of his parents and is blessed with four sisters and one brother.

His family originally belonged to Africa. They moved to France for a better future. They settled in La Madeleine which is a small town in France.

He lost his father at the beginning of the 2020s. His father's death affected him personally and professionally. 

He said in an interview that his father's demise affected his performance and it has been hard for him to cope with his loss. 

He said with his family they were united. He is a strong person but stopped after saying that during the interview cause, he couldn't contain his emotions. 

He further said that he is going through a hard time and he thinks it played a role as it affected him on the pitch. 

He sees it as a strength and he knows his father is watching him from up there. 

He gave a hard time to his mother

Dayot used to play football outside all the time as a child. They didn't have a referee but had mental rules that everyone obeyed. 

He used to get home with bloody knees all the time. He also said that he gave a hard time to his mother because he refused to go home. 

He said it was difficult enough for Mom to get me home at all. His mother would call him repeatedly and say Dayot come now! it is over for today and he would reply saying no, no, five more minutes, please. 

After getting home the daily routine was to take care of his wounds of the day. 

They would tend to his wounds by applying a little ointment or plaster to stop a bleeding wound but he still has scars in his knees from his childhood.

Suffered from dyslexia and stuttering disorders

As a child, Dayot suffered from a speech impediment. He had difficulties speaking which led him to be shy and had difficulties expressing himself. 

He revealed that some of his classmates didn't treat him particularly well and annoyed him which led him to have a difficult time. 

He then started preferring talking very little and being with himself. 

From the age of 10 to 13, he went to see a speech therapist who helped him to build confidence in the pitch.
