Dave Navarro

Dave Navarro is an America-based musician. He is best known as the guitarist of the rock band Jane’s Addiction.

David Michael Navarro was born to James Raul Navarro and Constance Colleen Hopkins. 

His grandparents from his father’s side migrated to the United States of America from Mexico. Dave did his schooling at Notre Dame High School. 

The school was situated in Sherman Oaks, California. 

There he was a part of the marching band along with Stephen Perkins, who became his bandmate in the band “Jane’s Addiction” later.

WHO KILLED DAVE’S MOTHER IN 1983?

In March 1983, Dave’s mother, Constance Colleen Hopkins, and his aunt were shot dead in West Los Angeles. 

They were murdered by Constance’s ex-boyfriend John (Dean) Riccardi when the guitarist was only 15 years old. 

The criminal was on the loose for nearly a decade. 

However, the case was featured in “America’s Most Wanted” in 1991, after which, with the help of a viewer’s tip, John was finally arrested. 

In 2004, while appearing in “America’s Most Wanted,” Dave revealed that he was supposed to be with his mother on the day of her killing, but fortunately, he went to stay at his father’s at the last moment.

DAVe’S DOCUMENTARY “THE MOURNING SON”

This documentary showcases the deepest, darkest fears, ranging from drug abuse to his musical journey. 

Dave quoted that the incident changed his life forever. On the journey to understand the whole scenario, he confronted his horrifying past. 

Also, he spoke to friends, family, and FBI agents about the heart-breaking events that affected his life forever.

Dave revealed that he used drugs as an escape from his mother’s death while, on the other hand, he used the death to do drugs. 

Dave also narrated that the murderer apparently wanted to hurt his mother, but if John wanted to hurt her, he should have killed him (Dave).

DAVE’S DRUG ADDICTION

Dave disclosed that he had started doing drugs before his mother was killed. He was addicted to drugs for many years. 

His drugs of choice were heroine and cocaine. 

His 2015 documentary “The Mourning Son” had details about his addiction and also contained graphic footage of his using drugs at a younger age. 

However, when the documentary was released, he had given up all his addiction. He claimed that he had been completely sober since 2012.

Navarro has had three wives till today. In 1990, he got married to the celebrity makeup artist Tania Goddard-Saylor. 

Their marriage ended in 1992. Then his marriage with Rhian Gittins in 1994 was annulled shortly after. 

After that, in 2003, he tied the knot with Carmen Electra. His then-wife was a model and actress.

Their wedding ceremony was documented in “Until Death Do Us Apart: Carmen and Dave” in 2004. 

However, in 2007, the duo got divorced, the main reason being their conflicting schedules. 

“They are better off as best friends”, a close source exclaimed. Currently, Dave is in a relationship with the actress Vanessa DuBasso.

On 14th February 2023, Dave posted a photo on Instagram with his fiancé Vanessa Dubasso and captioned it, “Happy Valentines Day from us to you!”

On 7th June 2022, on the day of Dave’s birthday, Vanessa posted a birthday post for him on her Instagram handle featuring her diamond engagement ring and announcing to the world that they were engaged. 

Recently on 26th January, Vanessa recently disclosed via her Instagram post that she and Dave are planning a wedding. 

Then in the next post, she shared how she has overcome her deepest fears, insecurities, and shadows with Dave. “You are magic to me!” she added.
