To his surprise, he only came to know after someone informed him through the phone conversation that he had lost his no 3 shirt.
There was a heated argument between then Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho and Danny after being left out because Danny could not understand the problem.
After the arrival of the former Hotspur boss, he just had a chance to appear in one Premier League game. Shortly after, he was at loan stint for Newcastle United.
Mourinho, in his explanation, confessed to picking him up for the Liverpool game after being impressed in training but being left disappointed with his display.

Danny admitted to not being able to give his best against Liverpool, but that does not mean he should not be given a chance to improve.
It was completely unfair for him. Danny, who gave his 14 years serving for Hotspur, was one of the members of the team to have reached in Championship League final.
His battle with depression and family tragedies
Danny was sidelined from games for eight months after he suffered a serious knee injury in January 2017.
The frustration of having to get surgery when it was said not needed initially was the starting phase of his depression.
Not being able to be a part of the game when everyone in the team, including him, was playing well was making him depressed.
He was getting angrier day by day. He didn’t feel like doing anything, talking to anyone, going out, and socialize. He was not sleeping well.
After talking to the spurs doctor, the doctor recommended him to the psychologist, and he was diagnosed with depression and on medication.
It was a tough time for Danny as he was mentally juggling various issues and family tragedies that came by one after another.
During the middle of the rehab, his uncle committed suicide who had been battling mental issues, and in August, his mother had to endure racial abuse in Doncaster, and his brother’s face was nearly shot.

He publicly spoke about his depression battle, which he thinks was his best decision; otherwise, he would not know what would have been to him if he had not been outspoken.
He credits England, the manager, and its medical staff for helping him get through it by providing him the opportunity to get away with it.
