Daniel Bachmann is an Austrian-born professional footballer who is a goalkeeper for premier league club Watford and the Austria National team. He is a former Kilmarnock goalkeeper.

Beginning his career with Stoke City in 2011, Bachmann moved to Watford in 2017 before going out on loan to Wrexham, Ross County, and Bury during his time at Stoke City

Daniel signed a season-long loan deal with Kilmarnock in August 2018 and spent the 2018-19 season at the club.

His career journey from a striker to a goalkeeper

Daniel started playing football at the local club in his village. By 10, he moved to Admira, Bundesliga, where he played as a striker in his first club.

Since his dad was the coach of the local club, and as he was an excellent goal scorer, he never got a chance to be a goalkeeper.

After six months, when the goalkeeper of the club got injured, Daniel insisted on playing as a goalkeeper and this is where it all started. He enjoyed playing as a goalkeeper.

After having spent five years at Admira, he moved to the Academy at Sturm Graz but soon left as he was not feeling comfortable. Before moving to Stoke in 2011, he spent his two years in Austria Vienna

At first, he did not want to sign for Stoke as for him at the time, moving from his home country to a different country with a different language was a huge step.

His mother and his agent were with him at the time, and seeing him not feeling alright, they flew back to Austria.

But at last, he ended up being at Stoke City after a goalkeeper coach of Stoke City kept contacting him and assured him everything would be fine.

His parents are the biggest influence

Daniel considers his parents to be the biggest influence in his life who have been supporting him throughout his life.

He says that his parents have taken him everywhere, having done everything they could to get him in the position he is today.

For many years, they took him back and forth, driving 40 minutes to his training center. They traveled away to almost every game.

Top clubs are showing interest in signing him

Because of his impressive performance at Euro 2020, Daniel is in demand these days. The top clubs like Ajax and Arsenal are showing keen interest in signing him. However, Watford is currently refusing to sell him.

Daniel was only given a chance after goalkeeper Ben Foster broke his finger. He confessed to working every day in the training and waited for his opportunity. Daniel's patience and hard work paid off in the end.
