Connor Payton

Connor Payton is the star kid of famous former American Football Coach Sean Payton. He was born in Texas and currently resides in Fort Worth.  

His mother is Beth Shuey. His elder sister Meghan Payton was born in 1997. He studied at Texas Christian University.  Connor has impressive football skills and is seen playing matches. 

He is also an ardent basketball lover. The father-son duo is seen in different football and basketball matches. 

They both love the New Orleans Pelicans. In the movie Home Team, the fictional character of Connor is played by actor Tate Bloom.

His father

Sean is a former football player and the most accomplished football coach. He guided the New Orleans Saints and brought it to the next level starting from 2006 to 2022. 

Born in San Mateo, California, he was raised in Naperville, Illinois, by parents Thomas and Jeanne Payton. 

He was a quarterback at Naperville Central High school and Eastern Illinois University and played professionally with Chicago Bears and Leicester Panthers.

Relationship

Going through his social media, it seems like he is dating a girl named Audrey Carrington. He has posted many pictures with this beautiful lady.

When he was a coach for Indiana State University, he met Beth Shuey, an undergrad. She took a degree in marketing. 

They dated for a while and got married on July 11, 1992. They were together for a long time but eventually hit a rough patch and divorced in 2014. 

She married Jamie McGuire later. Payton shortly started dating Skylene Montgomery, who was crowned Miss West Virginia in 2008 and is a nurse and volleyball coach. 

He proposed to her for marriage at a private party at the Longway Tavern. On June 18, 2021, they married in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Siblings

Sean and Beth welcomed two amazing children, Megan and Connor.

Megan has a bachelor's degree in media production and sports broadcasting. She currently works in the NFL as a sportscaster.

Payton was suspended from the NFL in the 2012 season for his involvement in slush funding in match-fixing. 

It was termed Bountygate, and an investigation showed that players were found deliberately attempting to knock opposing players out of the game. 

It cost him a suspension for the entire year, and also his salary was forfeited. He was reinstated on January 22, 2013.

Retirement 

Sean decided to step down as a coach of the Saints after fifteen years of guidance.  During his guidance, Saints took a giant leap of success. 

He led the Saints to the playoff nine times, including Super Bowl XLIV. 

During his career, he got awarded the National Football league coach of the year 2006, ESPY awards outstanding team- New Orleans Saints 2010, and so on. 

He is regarded as one of the most successful coaches.

Connor and Sean's relationship in the Movie

In 2002, the American sports comedy film Home Team was released on Netflix, based on true events when Sean was suspended as coach of the New Orleans Saints for a year. 

He coached his son Connor's middle school football team during that time.  Some touch of fiction is also present in the Movie and is played by other actors. 

This Movie reflects the father-son duo and how this period brought them close. Particularly, Connor's limelight began after this Movie. 

He and his sister's reaction to their father's retirement after 16 years in New Orleans

Their father announced his decision to step back from the head coaching post after 16 incredible years at New Orleans in January after he was hired as the New Orleans Saints coach. 

He has no intention to coach in 2022 and is interested more in the T.V. analyst job, but he is unsure what's next. 

There is excitement, like "All right, what's next" he said in an emotional news conference. 

Connor and his sister Meghan discussed their father's decision to step back and what the organization meant to them while talking to Fetcher of the WDSU digital team. 

According to Meghan, she and Connor haven't known for a long time about their father's decision. It was something they started talking to their dad once the off-season started. 

Their dad would call them and explain how he was feeling and where he was. 

Though both of them are supportive of their father's decision, it's still emotional for them because to have spent 16 years is a long time, and she and Connor had called each other every night for the last two weeks to talk about it, she explained. 

When asked about his father referencing him wanting to get into the front office and how much the organization has meant to Connor, Connor said that the organization had been everything to him. 

He was just six when his dad took a job, and now he is near to graduating from college. 

Being a football kid, it's almost hard not to love it and want to have a career in it and want to do something with it, he says. 

He added how can one kind of not want to work in football and make a path in it after having grown up around Saints and in New Orleans and always had in his mind that he needed to do something in the sport. 

Talking about his father's decision, he said it was refreshing to see him after having seen him in Saints for 16 years, where it has been go, go, go without thinking anything else. 

He said he knows that his father is excited to kind of free time and be able to visit him and his sister Meghan and at the same time, they are excited too to have some time with their father as he has been the coach their whole lives.
