Connor Bird

Connor Bird is famous as the son of a former NBA player, coach, and executive in the NBA, Larry Bird, who is one of the most decorated players of all time. 

Connor is an adopted son of Larry and his wife, Dinah Mattingly. He is a former student at Indiana University.

He was arrested for attacking his then-girlfriend

Connor was arrested back in 2013 after he allegedly attacked his then-girlfriend and attempted to run over her with his car after a heated argument.

He was arrested at Indiana University in Bloomington and was charged with battery, criminal recklessness, and possession of fewer than 30 grams of marijuana after his then-girlfriend alleged he drove his car over her.

As per the police, Connor and his then-girlfriend had an argument at Conor's apartment in Bloomington and threw a cell phone at her after a heated argument. 

Conor later waited for her to have a conversation and took her took a parking lot but got into another argument, after which she exited the car. 

She claimed Conor chased her through the parking lot, trying to run a car over her.

In 2014, he was found guilty and pled guilty to a misdemeanor criminal recklessness. 

The state agreed to dismiss the battery and drug possession charge only after the successful completion of the required fulfillment of the plea deal.

It was not the first time Connor was arrested. He was arrested in 2011 for underage drinking and disorderly conduct.

His father was previously married to his high school sweetheart.

Larry was married to his high school sweetheart Janet Condra in 1975, but their marriage was short-lived. 

Just after 11 months, they got divorced. 

However, they did try to reconcile, and as a result, Janet got pregnant with their first child, a daughter named Corrie, whom they welcomed in August 1977 but later separated.

Larry married for the second time to Dinah Mattingly in 1989, and are together since then.

He has two siblings

Connor has an elder half-sister, Corrie, whom his father shares with his ex-wife Janet. He has a sister named Mariah, who is also adopted by his parents, Larry and Dinah. 

However, Corrie did not get to know her father well growing up as Connor and Mariah did. 

In an interview, Corrie opened up about her estranged relationship with her father, Larry, who, despite being a biological father, only paid child support and mostly abandoned her. 

She said every time she saw her father, he told her he loved her but as soon as she would leave, she didn't hear from her dad for a year. 

She used to write letters every single time, leaving her phone number and address, asking her to contact her or leave a message but never got a reply. 

A hilarious Larry Bird story 

The former basketball head coach Nolan Richardson recalled a hilarious story about Larry at his hall of fame induction. 

He recalled the time back then when he turned the radio on to listen to the game between Indiana State and New Mexico state. 

Though he had no clue about the players of either team, he wished Indiana State to win because they were big rivals. 

And suddenly, he hears Bird's name coming constantly, and he says, "who's Bird." 

He could not see him but only imagine at the time, and by the time he came to an end, he was like, "boy, that brother can play." 

And when he saw Larry's picture in the newspaper the next morning, he said, damn.
