Cindi is the third wife and widow of Andy Griffith. She is the daughter of Muriel Knight and Bobby Knight. Her parents were educators in the Duval Country School in the Arlington area.
She is the stepmother of Andy’s two children Andy Samuel Griffith Jr., better known as Sam Griffith, and Dixie Nann Griffith.
Both the children were adopted by Andy when he was married to his first wife, Barbara Griffith. Sam Griffith was a real-estate developer who died in 1996 due to alcoholism.

Cindi and Andy were married for 29 years until 2012. Andy was first married to Barbara Griffith on August 22, 1949, and they separated in 1972 after 23 years of their marriage.

Cindi first met Andy at a Volleyball game, which was attended by the cast members of “The Lost Colony” in 1978.
