His mother Rachel was running a Pilates business in York, which took more than a decade in the making. 

When his father was offered the managerial role in Ostersund, Sweden, in 2011, his mother did not want to go at first, but she felt her husband wanted to do it, so she made her decision to support him and move with him. 

It was challenging for his mother as she had to start the business from scratch where people had no idea about the Pilates. 

Slowly and gradually, she started adjusting herself by learning Swedish, making friends, and introducing people to Pilates. 

For her sacrifice, the football club fans expressed their gratitude by making a banner that wrote: “Thank You, Rachel.” She was overwhelmed by the people’s effort and their support.

Charlie was just 11 months old when they moved to Sweden

Charlie was just 11 months on when they moved to Sweden. The first six months were tough for his parents as both of them were somehow trying to adjust to their new life where his mother cried every day. 

His mother was adjusting herself with the place while his father was trying to understand Swedish football culture and the team.

He has two identical twin brothers

He is an elder brother to his identical twin brothers, Sam Potter and Theo. They were born in Ostersund, Sweden. 

According to their mom, she sometimes gets confused between the twins and does not know which one is which. They are four years old. 

Growing up in Sweden, Charlie has become more Swedish than English. They are often taken to hiking if their mother is not teaching Pilates. 

Charlie, along with his two siblings, got to spend more time with their father during the Coronavirus pandemic, where they were taught bits of PE, art, and maths. They were also taught to make a sorry card for their mother. 

Both of his grandparents sadly passed away between six months interval

His paternal grandmother, Val, sadly passed away in July 2019. She was diagnosed with dementia. Within six months, the family had to suffer another loss. 

His grandfather Steve passed away just before his father’s press conference in January 2020. Steve was diagnosed with cancer two months before his death. 

It was completely devastating to his father, Graham. According to Graham, his parents were hugely supportive and proud of him. 

They wanted him to do his best. He needed time to grieve the tragic loss of his parents. The football pause in lockdown 2020 gave him the chance to cope with the loss.
