Caleb Murray

Caleb Murray is the son of Oscar-nominated actor and comedian Bill Murray. His mother, Jennifer Butler, is a costume designer. 

How did his parents meet?

Bill was married to his first wife, Margaret Kelly, a talent coordinator on The Tonight Show and The Dick Cavett Show, in 1981. 

Together they welcomed two sons, Luke and Homer. 

Murray was having an affair with Jennifer Butler, whom he met years before in 1988 on the set of the movie Scrooged. 

His affair with Butler led to divorce in 1996. 

In 1997, Murray married Butler. From their marriage union, they gave birth to their four sons, Cooper, Caleb, Lincoln, and Jackson.

The reason behind his parent's divorce

Butler filed for divorce on May 12, 2008, in Charleston County, citing infidelity, drug addiction, and abuse. 

Butler said she was forced to move to a new home with kids because of his abusive behavior and addiction. 

Per the divorce papers, Murray would often leave home without telling Butler and say he traveled overseas but would engage in public and private altercations and sexual liaisons. 

He was alleged to hit her on her face and was told she was lucky that he didn't kill her. Butler was granted primary custody of their four children. 

The couple had signed a prenuptial agreement before their marriage in 1997, where Murray had an agreement to pay $7 million to Butler within 60 days of the final divorce.

He was arrested for his misconduct

Caleb attended a Black Lives Matter protest on June 1, 2020, but was arrested during the protest for his misconduct. 

While at the protest, he was accused of smashing the truck window and spitting and biting a police officer, The Martha's Vineyard Times reported. 

Not only that, after he was arrested, he was also found uncooperative at the jail. He was accused of attacking deputies and threatening to cut himself and them. 

He also threatened arson once he was released. 

For his insane behavior and misconduct, he was charged with malicious destruction of property, a threat to crime, three counts of assault, battery on a police officer, making terroristic threats, and disorderly conduct. 

E! News reported that his bail was later set to $10,000 and that Murray was no longer in their custody.

Bill Murray, on the accusation of inappropriate behavior 

Bill was accused of inappropriate behavior on the set of Aziz Ansari Being Mortal, which led to the suspension of the upcoming film. 

Speaking to CNBC Television about what actually happened, Murray said that he had a difference of opinion with a woman working on the production with him. 

He did something he thought was funny, and it wasn't taken in that way, he cleared.

Talking about his return to the film amid the investigation, Murray said they are talking and trying to make peace with each other. 

According to him, they are both professionals and like each other's work, and there is no point in going further in working together or making movies if they can't get along and trust each other. 

He also said that he is optimistic about making peace with it and putting his boots on, and both of them return to work and be able to trust each other and work at the work that they have spent a lot of time developing the skill would make him the happiest.
