Brandon Landry

Brandon Landry is the founder and CEO of Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux and Bar, a sports theme restaurant. 

Early life

Landry grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is the youngest of his parents' five children. 

Growing up as a son of a sugarcane farmer, he used to be on a tractor, even on weekends making sure sugarcane fields were ready.

It taught him at an early age that he didn't want to end up becoming a sugarcane farmer but at the same time instilled in him the work ethic, Landry said in an interview. 

He went to Catholic High in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

He dreamt of being a member of Louisiana State University's basketball team

Landry was a high school basketball player while at Catholic High. 

As a kid, he had a longtime dream of being a member of Louisiana State University's basketball team. 

After high school, he went out for his freshman team but got cut. 

But he didn't give up and continued practicing every day at the local park until he made it in his sophomore year. 

He played from 1997-2000 as a walk-on.

Where did the idea for Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux come from?

According to Landry, he played for only seven minutes in his entire season in his senior, so he figured out early on in his career that he probably wasn't going to play in the NBA and get paid to play the game. 

It was during that time that idea for Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux brew. 

He and his walk-on teammate Jack Warner while traveling across the world as members of the LSU basketball team, visited the best restaurants and sports bars and discovered the need for something that sort of brought Louisiana and sports and their story to the front. 

They started doodling on the bev naps while returning home from the road game at the University of Tennessee. 

After they got back to LSU, they shared their idea with their entrepreneurship teacher, who did his business plan project every year. 

They were only thinking of one store with flip burgers and sling beer and making a living, so they started working in the restaurant. 

They started making business plans and got some investors involved in it. Six banks turned down loans, but they kept rolling with a walk-on mentality. 

They finally got the loan on their seventh attempt. The Walk-On began franchising in 2014 and has expanded to 75 locations across 13 states. 

He is stepping down from his position as a CEO

Landry is stepping down from his position as the CEO of Walk-On's sports, Bistreaux, and bar, the empire he had built two decades ago. 

He will be replaced by COO Scott Taylor, who has been with the Walk’s On for a decade. 

Landry, in his statement, said that Scott is the natural choice to assume the CEO reins as the brand enters its 20th year, as he and Scott have built a culture team that is focused on delivering best-in-class support results for their franchise partners over the past twelve years. 

Scott has been serving as president and chief operating officer since 2010.

He is happily married 

Landry is happily married to his wife, Macky. Landry married his wife on the 12th of December, 2015, and are together since then. 

The couple became parents for the first time by welcoming their elder daughter Jett on the 12th of December, 2016. 

They have two more kids, one more daughter named Sloan and a son named Law.
