Children of Betty and Cale

Betty and Cale are parents of three daughters named Julie, Kelley, and B.J.

About her late husband, Cale

William Caleb Yarborough was born on March 27, 1939, in Timmonsville, South Carolina, United States, to his parents, Julian and Annie Yarborough

Cale’s father was a tobacco farmer, cotton gin operator, and store owner by profession.

When Cale was just twelve years old, his father was killed in a private airplane crash.

Cale was a businessman, farmer, and rancher. He came to fame after being a NASCAR Winston Cup Series driver and owner.

He is one of the drivers among two to win three consecutive championships in NASCAR in the years 1976, 1977, and 1976

He was the first guy to make that record, which later got tied in 2008 by Jimmie Johnson

Cale retired as a driver in 1988 and owned Cale Yarborough Motorsports. As a farmer, he used to own a ranch in his home.

While taking his steps into politics, he became the first Republican elected to the Florence County Council since Reconstruction.

The reason behind the death of Cale

Cale died on December 31, 2023, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, South Carolina, United States, after battling with a long illness.

It was known that he was battling through rare genetic disorder. He died while being surrounded by his wife and daughters.

The vice president of business aligns and NASCAR at Universal Technical Institute, John Dodson also shared months ago (estimation April 2023) about the health condition of Cale, stating that “The toughest race car driver I ever worked for is not doing well.”

Cale making an early prediction.

Cale had a good year in 1974 as he had won eight races out of 18 races in the first part of the season, and it was a pretty good record for him.

He had hoped that he could continue the rest of the season the same way he had gone in the first part of the season, and he already had thought of winning the Grand National championship

In the same year, he won the NASCAR Winston Cup Series.

Cale’s 11-number Oldsmobile

The 11-number Oldsmobile kept in the museum, which was set to come in track, still refreshes Cale’s memories because it was the same car that made him the first guy to win three consecutive NASCAR Grand National NASCAR Cup series in 1978 and winning altogether ten matches in the same respective year.

Cale shared about his 11-number car and that he wants a lower race of this car as it is a good race car for him.

He calls the respective car a racing stock car, where racing this car looks like a stunt car.

Cale had tested a lot of cars during the offseason, and he liked what he saw in the Oldsmobile, so it made him decide to use this car as his race car.
