Beth Thompson is the wife of a Spanish football coach and a former professional player named Roberto Martinez. Beth was born and raised in Scotland.

Roberto is a very well-known football personality in Spain and Belgium. He started his career as a football player in 1982 with the team Balaguer.

He ended as the captain of Chester City in 2007 to become the manager of Swansea City in 2007. He played as a defensive midfielder.

Roberto was in Scotland when he was playing for his motherland, and they had a match there. They met and slowly started talking and growing close.

Beth and Roberto were dating for some time before they got married in 2009. They still have a very strong bond to this day.

Player to manager

Roberto first started his career as a football player in 1982 with Balaguer and joined another team Zaragoza in 1990.

He finally started his senior career in 1991 with the team Zaragoza. He then went on to play with many teams such as Zaragoza, again with Balaguer, Wigan Athletics, Motherwell, Walsall, Swansea City where he became the team captain for the first time.

And at last, he was in Chester City where he was the team captain as well.

He left his career as a football player after he got the chance to be a football manager. He played 425 matches and scored 30 goals in total while he was a player.

He began his career as a football manager of his previous football team, Swansea City. He was then transferred to be the manager of Wigan Athletics.

Then became the manager of Everton and finally started as the manager of the Belgium national team in 2016 and is currently working there.

Besides being very successful as a football player and manager, he has also worked as a studio analyst. He covered ESPN's coverage of the FIFA world cup held in 2010 and 2014.
