Her parents are no longer together

Her parents, Tim and Amy, were married for 12 years before they decided to split in 2008. 

According to the sources, her mother cheated on her father with Andrew Shue when they were engaged. 

Her father, at the time, was living in Georgia, while her mother had moved to South Carolina to pursue her dream of Broadcast journalism. 

Amy called it an emotional affair. However, they got back and got married in 1996. 

In an interview, Andrew said that Amy never wanted to get married to Tim but had to marry because her mother forced her to. 

However, after she divorced, she started dating Andrew and eventually married on her 37th birthday in 2010 at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers. 

Everything was going well until the cheating scandal of Robach with GM3 co-anchor T. J. Holmes surfaced in 2022. 

They were pictured together for the first time getting cozy in a New York bar in November 2022. Shortly after, the couple decided to part ways.

Her mother survived stage two breast cancer

Her mother got a mammogram Live in Good Morning America on 1st October 2013. 

Then she was asked to get a follow-up mammogram on 30th October, and five hours later, it was discovered that she had cancer. 

She was diagnosed with stage two invasive breast cancer, which shook her to the core. 

According to Amy, she initially didn’t want to go for the test because she didn’t want people to talk about her breasts. 

During surgery, doctors discovered a second malignant tumor in her other breast, and that the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes, after which she underwent eight rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, and reconstructive surgery. 

She lost about a third of her hair. 

She said she couldn’t be more grateful to GMA co-worker Robin Roberts for pushing her to take that first crucial step of the mammogram. 

She thought she was doing philanthropic for others who might have cancer, never imagining she was sitting there with two malignant tumors. 

Anytime she thought about her kids worrying about her and worrying about them that she would not be there for them broke her heart, and she would cry hard in the shower.

Back in 2015, she said in an interview with OWN that the drug she was taking could not be pregnant on it plus, her cancer was estrogen-fueled cancer, due to which getting pregnant was not advisable, and also, her oncologist told her that she was out of baby making process. 

She said at the time that when she met Andrew, they dreamt of having their children. 

He had had a vasectomy and later had it reversed, and they had been trying for a year, but her oncologist was happy that it didn’t work because that had been bad in her condition. 

It was tough for her, and though they had five beautiful kids, two from her side and three from Andrew’s previous relationship, it was still heart-wrenching for her when she was told she could not be a mother, she expressed.
