Ava was born to her father Ryan Phillippe and mother Reese Witherspoon. They first met in the year 1997 at Reese's 21st birthday.

Ava was heartbroken with the death of her family dog, Pepper, a female     French bulldog who died in October 2020. 

She shared the sad news via Instagram, stating aggressive cancer behind her death which she had been battling for months. 

Reminiscing of time together with Pepper, she shared how grateful she was for their bond. 

She also mentioned Pepper for helping her go through the tough times that included her teenage years. 

Peeper would make her feel special, licking her face with joy every time she arrived home from her college. 

Ava used to post pictures of Pepper quite often. After her death, Ava adopted a rescued dog from Utah whose name is Benji.
