Anno Birkin

Anno Birkin was an English-born poet and musician also known for being engaged to British actress Honeysuckle Weeks who is famous for portraying Samantha Stewart in the drama series Foyle’s War. 

Birkin was born to his parents, Andrew Birkin and Bee Gilbert. His father, Andrew, is an English screenwriter, director, and occasional actor. 

He was the nephew of singer, songwriter, and actress Jane Birkin.

He died at the young age

Anno, along with his bandmates Lee Citron and Alberto Mangili, spent the day rehearsing before they were killed in an early morning car crash on the outskirts of Milan on the 8th of November, 2001. 

During the car crash, three of the four Bandmates, including Birkin, succumbed to death after they swerved to avoid a broken-down car in the middle of the motorway that ended up crashing into the parked truck on the hard shoulder.

He was briefly engaged to actress Honeysuckle Weeks

Anno was briefly engaged to actress Honeysuckle. Before they could tie a knot, Anno lost his life. 

According to Weeks, she and Anno had known each other since 15, which later turned into love. 

Weeks even confessed her love for him, but at the time, she was with one of his oldest friends, which was a difficult situation for Anno. 

But eventually, they could not stop themselves from talking to each other all the time. 

Weeks always had that feeling with Anno that she had to catch up, which Anno himself figured out somehow. 

She confessed to never forgetting being 100 feet above London in the hot air balloon with Anno when she was floating in love and hot air.

In 2005, Weeks tied the knot with hypnotherapist Lorne Stormonth-Darling in an impromptu Buddhist ceremony while on holiday in the Himalayas and had the wedding ceremony in London in 2007. 

The couple gave birth to their first child Wade Stormont-Darling in 2011 and is residing in Petworth.

Anno met Milla Jovovich while visiting his father on the film set of The Messenger: The story of Joan of Arc, where Milla was playing the lead role.

Birkin was 17 at the time. It was an instant click due to their musical interest, and they soon collaborated on many songs. 

According to Jovovich, Anno was her love, friend, endless well of inspiration, sweetest, most painful memory, and greatest loss.

Milla got married to film writer and director Paul W. S. Anderson in 2009. The couple first met while working on the 2002 film Resident Evil. 

The following year Anderson popped the question, and the couple was engaged on and off for four years. They share three kids.

After his demise, his parents Andrew Birkin and Bee Gilbert, set up a charity in his memory under the name Anno’s Africa, a UK-based children’s art charity running educational arts projects that focuses on Kenyan orphans and slum children. 

The charity has been operating in Kenya since 2006, providing the platform to showcase its creativity.
