Annaliese Witschak is famous as the first ex-wife of Hungarian-American billionaire businessman and philanthropist George Soros.

Witschak married Soros in 1960. Soros was born to a non-observant Jewish family, and Witschak was non-Jewish. 

Still, Soros's parents liked her as she had also experienced privation and displacement brought about by World War II. 

However, the couple got divorced after 23 years of marriage. Witschak accused Soros of cheating on her.

Witschak welcomed two sons, Robert Daniel and Jonathan Tivador, and a daughter, Andrea Soros Colombel, with Soros. 

Their eldest son, Robert Daniel, is the founder of the Central European University based in Budapest, as well as a network of foundations in Eastern Europe.

Soros handed his $25 billion financial and charitable empire to his 37-year-old son Alexander "Alex" Soros, whom he shares with his second ex-wife Susan Weber. 

Alexander was elected chairman of the charitable empire Society Foundations known as OSF, the foundation which distributes around $1.5 billion per year aiming at advancing human rights and democratic governments in December, although Soros had previously said that he did not want OSF to be handed over to any of his children. 

Soros, in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, said that Alexander, who is the second youngest child out of his five children, has earned it and also that they think alike. 

According to the Journal, before Alex, Jonathan was believed to be Soros's successor for years, but Soros said he didn’t get on with Jonathan. 

Upon his father’s decision, Jonathan told the Journal that he was disappointed but not regretful of the outcome. 

He knew his father would change the decision, he said. 

Alex, who took over his father’s $25 billion empire, was once famous for his flamboyant and playboy lifestyle. 

Back in 2016, the Jewish publication Forward wrote he was shuttling models to and from his $85 million summer rental mansion in the Hamptons, and in 2021, it was reported that he left a $700 tip after purchasing a tequila from a bar-based in Brooklyn where he was spending a night with two different women. 

After taking over the reins, Alex told the Journal that he is more political than his father and that he would campaign against Trump’s attempt to run for a second term as president.
