Who are her parents?

Her father is Kazembe Ajamu Coleman, but nothing is known about her mother. Her father was a school teacher who later ended up being Zendaya’s manager. 

Zendaya, during an interview, said that her father is very protective of her because she is the youngest of his six kids. 

Her dad, in an interview with the Wall Street Journal back in 2013, said he wants his children to be independent and make their own choices to be informed so that they can make the right choices because he doesn't know how long they are going to be with them. 

What he discovered in the entertainment industry was that the mother did all the talking when their kids were asked any questions because they wanted the industry to fall in love with their child.

She is super close to her siblings

She has five siblings, three sisters, Katianna, Annabella, and Zendaya, and two brothers, Austin Stoermer Coleman and Julian.

Claire, who was a teacher at the time, took a second job in theatre and later became a house manager. 

She started taking Zendaya along with her, and her daughter would literally beg her to take her to see technical rehearsals. 

Zendaya, at the time, was eight and would sit in the audience holding a flashlight because they would rehearse at night. 

Zendaya later did her summer conservatories with Cal Shakes. 

After doing some commercials, her agent in San Francisco asked if she wanted to move to L.A. because they were looking for people out there, so she moved to L.A. and got an agent and a manager. 

Six months later, she booked her role in a Disney sitcom.
