Anna Grygier is famous as the wife of West Ham United goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski. Grygier is from Szamotuly.
How did she meet her future husband?
The couple first met at the training ground of a youth football school in Szamotuly, where Lukasz was training.
The love story began after they attended the same high school.
However, although they liked each other and spent a lot of time together, despite Anna’s mom putting him in a good book, nothing sparked between them for four years, Anna said during an interview back in 2006.
But somehow it happened, and they are together, she added. According to Anna, what impressed Anna the most about Lukasz was his modesty.
Anna said she had known him for quite a long time and could confirm that Lukasz was extremely confident.
She gushed about him, telling him he is an ordinary, straightforward guy whose popularity has not turned down his head and that he is still the same old Lukasz as he was in high school, specific and responsible and capable of handling anything.

When Lukasz went to London in 2007, Anna joined him to accompany him to a foreign nation. She has been his back ever since.
The couple was always sure that they would marry in Poland.
Like they had said, they married on the 15th of June in their hometown Szamotuly in the attendance of their friends and families.
A doting mom
Anna is a doting mom of her son Jan who she welcomed with her husband a day before Christmas Eve in 2015.
As a father, Lukasz admitted to pampering his son and letting him do whatever he wants, but Anna doesn’t let him do too much that may spoil their kid, so sometimes she scolds and holds Lukasz back.
According to Lukasz, his son is into football and loves West Ham United. When Lukasz extended his contract, his son was as happy as he was.
He says his son Jan is his biggest critic, who provides him feedback after every match.
Lukasz’s background and his journey from the hometown club Polonia Slubice to West Ham United
Lukasz grew up in Slubice, a border town in Lubusz Voivodeship, where he spent his childhood doing everything like a free spirit and was always outside playing football, cycling to the lakes, etc.
His father, a taxi driver at the time, was always supportive since the beginning of his career and traveled along with his son to find the professional clubs that would give him a better future in football.
He was 14 when he joined his hometown club Polonia Slubice. At 15, he moved to MSP Szamotuly, and it was at the club he realized what he wanted to become.
When he was on trial for a few days at the club, he was awestruck watching goalkeepers with their techniques and their abilities.
Lukasz recounted telling his parents that was the place he wanted to be in. When he finished high school in 2004 at 19, he joined Lech Poznan.
According to Lukasz, his time at Poznan didn’t go as planned, so it wasn’t the best one, after which he moved to Legia Warsaw, the club which instilled belief in himself from the beginning.

He was told they would give him a chance if he did well because, at the time, then Goalkeeper Artur Boruc was about to leave in the next six months.
When Artur left for Celtic, Lukasz was given an opportunity. It started from there onwards. He won his first championship in his first year in the top division.
Then he was called up for the national team. Since then, he has represented his nation 57 times, including FIFA World CUP in 2006 and 2018, UEFO Euro 2008, Euro 2016, and Euro 2020.
From the Polish league to the Premier League, he says, was a massive step for him that surprised him.
During his journey, he also endured several injuries that were affecting him mentally.
He credits one person from Arsenal for making him a better professional when he came to preparing himself mentally.
He contributed to the team lifting the FA Cup for Arsenal in 2013-14.
He then moved to Swansea City, where he says he met some great and quality people who helped him improve his game after Arsenal.
He joined West Ham United in 2018 on a three-year contract and, in March 2021, extended his contract until June 2022.
Lukasz has been questioned many times, so he wants to prove people wrong. He says that if approached in a good way, it really can push you.
