Anja Muller

Anja Muller is famous as the celebrity wife of Switzerland national football team manager Murat Yakin. 

Anja previously worked at a travel agency and also took part in the Miss Switzerland election in 2004. She is from Zurich.

Yakin had a stunning football career. 

He spent most of his playing career playing for his hometown club FC Basel and won the Swiss Super League Cup on five occasions in 1995, 1996, 2002, 2004, and 2005 and the Swiss Cup three times in 1994, 2002, and 2003.

Married for over a decade

Anja and Murat married in the year 2011. There are no signs of divorce as they are living a happy married life. 

Anja says Murat is her rock and can always rely on him. It was a secret wedding, and the wedding was only known to the public in November 2013.

According to Anja, they opted for a secret wedding because they wanted to share the celebration with family. 

She said neither of them is a fan of big festivals nor churches. 

How did she meet her future husband?

Anja met Murat while swimming in Lake Zurich. Murat, along with his friends, was there. 

They ended up sitting at the table, and at last, she and Murat were only left there talking. It was love at first sight, Anja said. 

Anja initially was not interested in football, and it took her a long time to become familiar with the football world.

According to Anja, what she loves about her spouse is that she can always count on him and that he always protects her. 

She says her spouse is like a lion that defends its pride to the last, so she feels safe and protected.

A supporting wife 

Anja has been the supporting pillar of her husband. 

She is also actively involved in Murat’s foundation, “Children and Youth Foundation Murat Yakin and Friends,” a foundation set up by Murat and his partners to support Swiss children and youth in need in 2002. 

For the foundation, Anja, together with her friends, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary, organized the “Charity-Edel-Fleamarkt” in Basel. 

She cleared out her closets. In an interview, she said she doesn’t mind parting with clothes and other nice things since it serves a good purpose. 

The flea market raised more than 20,000 francs.

Murat grew up with seven siblings. According to him, ten of them lived in three and half-room apartments. 

His parents split when he was a teenager. He and his siblings were raised by a single mom. 

At some point, their father stopped paying the alimony, and they lived on social security. 

The difficult time he, along with his mom and his siblings, faced became one of the motivational factors for setting up the foundation. 

Mother of two beautiful daughters

She is the mother of her two beautiful daughters, who are 7 and 9. 

When Anja was pregnant with their first child, she said in an interview that it was an absolute dream child for both of them.

Murat, at the time, their firstborn, said he was happy to accept that wonderful challenge and was looking forward to the extensive tasks that follow.
