Katherine Noel Valentine Brosnahan Spade, popularly known as "Kate Spade," was a renowned American fashion designer, entrepreneur, and fashion icon. 

She was born on December 24, 1962, in Kansas City, Missouri, United States. She was the co-owner and co-founder of Kate Spade New York. 

When she was in her college time, she used to work in sales at Carter's Men Shop until one day, she came up with the idea of establishing her own brand with her co-worker and husband, Andy Spade.

She would say that there is nothing between the European bags as she simply wanted a simple tote that's stylish, not dumb, but has a really simple and practical side to it. 

Andy said he could do it. To which Kate replied, saying she had never designed and we couldn't do it. 

Andy said We are not starting a company, but we are just making a bag, let's make a bag. 

After two to three years, they both were exhausted, working from their apartment and sleeping on their friend's couches, and they weren't making a profit. 

Since they didn't have any background in starting a business, they realized they needed physical help. 

They didn't need money but needed someone who was an expert in production and another who was an expert in sales. 

They turned to their friends as they needed someone they could trust and who could be a big contributor.

Then they brought two partners and, after a while, told them we couldn't do it anymore and we were leaving. 

The two partners came back and told them, Look, we just joined, and we can't leave, and the company is on its way and about to take off, and it's working. 

They made it through their partners, who helped them and covered for them, and they made through it.

When they started the business, they just had six shapes of bags. 

They started thinking about other opportunities and thought about the aesthetic that they were bringing to it, like the designs and qualities. 

They wanted to find their core competency, their passion, and what they loved personally. 

They discovered that they couldn't make a promise without loving it and believing in what they do.
