According to him, there were film studios that American –Italian producer Dino De Laurentiis years before to film Firestarter because of which there was a local agent nearby, and he was able to meet her and start going out for mostly those things that were coming to film in North Carolina.
His third or fourth audition was a national search for a show called “The Torkelsons.”
They were looking for the Southern kids, so he put himself on an old VHS, did the audition, and send it off.
Two weeks later, while he was on his way to Disney World in Florida for Easter Vacation with his parents, he got a call saying they were flying to L.A. to meet with producer Michael Jacob and then have a screen test for NBC.
He told his parents at the time were like” What was happening” at the time.
So they flew to L.A. and gave a screen test. He landed the role in the 1991 T.V.L.A. Series “The Torkelsons” After the show was canceled following its retooled second season, Jacob approached him for the position of Stuart Minkus on Boy Meets World.
He recalled getting a call from Jacob asking if he would come to L.A. to do the significant part. He said that’s the dream as an actor, not having to audition. Norris was 12 years at the time. He shared that the experience before was stressful because he had only two days to prepare for the show’s first table read.
The script had been FedEx to him, and he was reading it on the plane, fearing he would be replaced and coming back home if Jacob was not impressed.
In another podcast, Norris also said that his career growth came later. After he did Boy Met World and went to high school, he realized he wanted to grow and prove that he could be more than just a child actor.
His new dream was to be on the TV Show as an adult and show that he had more to offer than just the one-dimensional character he was known for. He luckily landed a role in One Tree Hill, taking him on a ten-year ride.
