Alexander Zverev is a German tennis player. He is ranked as the second-youngest player in the Top 10 by ATP. 

Zverev was the champion at the 2018 ATP Finals and reached his first Grand Slam final at the 2020 U.S. Open but lost to Dominic Thiem.

Alexander is the son of Alexander Zverev Sr. and his wife, Irina Zvereva. He has a sibling named Mischa Zverev. 

His parents, and brother, are professional tennis players.

Alexander Controversy after breaking his self-isolation protocol

Alexander was part of the Adria Tour in Belgrade and Serbia amidst a social pandemic. 

There were no social distancing protocols followed, and he was spending time with other competitors, meeting their family and children, and visiting the night club in Belgrade. 

Players like Grigor Dimitrov, Borna Coric, and Novak Djokovic went home to Belgrade tested positive. 

After receiving the news, Alexander made a statement about the entire situation and tweeted that he had tested negative and apologized for playing the Adria Tour and putting people at risk. 

He further added he would stay self-isolated, but that didn’t last long as he was spotted in a crowded club on an Instagram video posted by German designer Philipp Plein just after few days of his tweet.

Controversies with his former coaches

Juan Carlos Ferrero and Alexander worked together for eight months before they parted. 

In an interview, Juan mentioned that Zverev used to go to the same match back and forth. 

He further added that he used to be in court for three hours. 

The irony was, he could not perform quality training for an hour and a half. 

Zverev didn’t have a good relationship with his second coach Ivan Lendl either. 

They worked together for 11 months. 

The 23-year-old stated that Lendl was more interested in his dog and his golf game than in professional coaching.
