His tears made his son take a brave decision

Alberto married his wife Susana Martinez a long time back in a private wedding ceremony.

From their marital bond, they welcomed two beautiful children, Alejandro and Emiliano

They were poor and financially struggled, but as parents, they did everything possible to support the dream of their son.

Emiliano knows the sacrifices they had made and suffered to see him on the top. He said he and his brother ate while his parents didn’t.

Because of their inability to afford petrol back and forth from their home town Mar Del Plata to Buenos Aires, Emiliano lived in Buenos Aires while he played for Independiente’s youth side.

They could see their son only twice a month. The family was in tears when Emiliano was invited to trial at Arsenal

Recalling the day, Emiliano said his mom and brother were crying and asking him not to leave.

Also, he had seen his father crying late at night because of his inability to pay the bills.

According to Emiliano, he had to be brave at the time because he said yes for his family.

When Emiliano turned 18 and moved into his first flat in Enfield, he had a conversation with his mom where he said he wanted to make his career there and did not want to return to his native with nothing.

Emiliano said he did not want to let his parents down. Emiliano says he always thinks of his parents when he plays.

Alberto is proud to see his son on top, and today they can easily afford wherever they want to.

He flew 27 hours for the Champions League debut against Anderlecht and cried 95 minutes straight. This time the tears he shed were tears of joy.

Emiliano has been a fighter throughout his career journey

Emiliano’s career journey was not smooth sailing. He had to fight for everything he had achieved and the position he is in today.

He spent ten years with Arsenal but mostly was loaned out.

According to Emiliano, at the beginning of the first year, he thought he was not going to make it because, in front of him, there were nine goalies.

Though he knew he had a talent, he lacked self-belief. At some point in his career, he stopped loving football because his patience was being tested.

He was 23 when he went to Spain as his first loan, where he played only six games.

He knew he had to go back to Arsenal, and they would not give him a chance, so he would have to go on loan.

It was a tough year, and he needed Psychologist to help him pass out his frustrations.

Then he was on the bench for Community Shield, where he won FA Cup and three Community Shields, but despite that, he felt like he wasn’t a part of the team.

He never felt he won it because he was not given the minute he needed.

He had to go out on loan frequently to get a chance to become the goalkeeper he is today.

It was after he won those trophies, FA Cups and Community Shields, that Arsenal tried to retain him before he moved to Aston Villa.

Emiliano says his move to The Villa has been massive and is grateful that they allowed him to play every League game.

He saved 15 clean sheets in the Premier League in his first season at The Villa.

Besides that, he has become a national hero by saving three penalties for Argentina in the penalty shootout to lead his side to the Copa America 2021 final and eventually helped the team to win the final.

For his outstanding performance, he was honored with the 2021 Copa America’s Golden Glove Award for being the best keeper of the tournament.
