Juliana Aiden Martinez is an American-born actress known for her role in Prodigal Son, The Blacklist, Boundary, and most recently in the new Netflix hit Griselda.

She played the pivotal role in Griselda 

The highly anticipated crime drama series Griselda is the true story of the infamous Columbian drug queenpin Griselda Blanco, who was trying to make her space in a male-dominated world in the 1980s Miami Cocaine trade. 

Besides Sofia Vergara, who portrayed Griselda, Juliana also played an integral part. 

She played the role of a strong woman, June Hawkins, a homicide detective who was influential in bringing the queenpin down. 

June Hawkins was one of the first female homicide detectives in the metro PD, the Miami homicide unit, who later became one of the lead detectives in finding the queenpin.

Juliana met with the real June Hawkins to understand the real experiences in depth because she didn’t want her performance to be a mimicry or a direct imitation. 

During an interview with Screen Rant, Juliana talked about meeting with Hawkins. 

According to her, the real June Hawkins was generous and told her the stories of what she had to do when she was dealing with the men as she was frequently sidelined by the men's colleagues initially when she was trying to convince them that there was a woman hand behind the drug cartels. 

She told her the stories of how she had to conduct herself and had to operate.

Juliana expressed talking to Hawkins was amazing. 

There is such a stillness, a subtlety to her but also an absolute dedication to how she thinks, how she maneuvered with people, and what she loved about her was her resiliency for which she wanted to pay homage, she said. 

Juliana also said she studied every detail and studied how she spoke for several months working with the coach.

Her dream of working with Sofia Vergara came true 

Juliana took her Instagram to share her dream of working with Sofia Vergara, which came true after nine years. 

With a picture alongside the wax model of Sofia Vergara that she had taken nine years back and the recent picture with star casts of Griselda, she shared that her journey to becoming an actor was not easy. 

There was a time when she felt like giving up and that the picture with a wax model of Vergara was taken in 2014 after she decided to visit Madame Tussauds Wax museum one day. 

She asked her friend to take the picture with Vergara, saying she dreamed of working with her one day. 

She further wrote nine years later, she is starring in a series opposite La Reina Sofia Vergara back in her hometown, Miami, and that she is humbled by the power of dreams and the glory of God.

Juliana on her role in the crime thriller movie Boundary 

Juliana starred in the 2022 crime thriller movie “Boundary” where she played the role of Emily Massey, the wife of a protagonist. 

During an interview with Dead Talk Live, she talked about her character in the movie. 

She said when she originally read the scripts, she saw an initial trap in it playing someone which they were the submissive wife, but what she found interesting was the strength and the tenacity she has to want to have the marriage that she is seeking, the family that she is seeking, the trust she is seeking. 

There is a strength to Emily that she doesn’t want to wash away, and she thinks that Emily is as much of a fighter as her husband is, she added.
