She struggled with drugs addiction for years before achieving sobriety in 2001

According to Wade, she started drinking in 8th grade in order to fit in with her peers and eventually started smoking marijuana which later became her addiction.

Following her divorce from her ex-husband, she moved in with her kids in a rough neighborhood where she started dealing drugs.

She even invited her addicted friends to her home to get high on drugs while her kids were at home.

She recalled a time when she nearly died while shooting up thinking it was dope but it wasn't and was rushed to the hospital where she was hallucinating.

The addiction continued until 1994 when she was sent behind bars after she was arrested for possessing crack cocaine to sell.

She said she badly broke down when young Dwyane paid a visit to her unaware of what was happening.

Four years later, while she was on a work release from jail, she ran away and ended up living as a fugitive for several years before her daughter Deanna found her in an abandoned building.

Soon after she got rescued and returned to jail to complete her jail sentence.

It was during that time that she learned about God's forgiveness when she got the letter from Dwyane saying she was his hero.

She had in mind that she was going to get her family back. She became Christian and started reading Bible.

She came out of jail in 2003 and has been clean ever since.
